The timing could not be better for tonight’s performance of The Accidental Hero at the Capitol Civic Center.
The one-man show, written and performed by Patrick Dewane, tells the story of how Dewane’s grandfather liberated the Czechoslovakian village of Domazlice.
Colonel Matt Konop, who was from the Two Rivers area, was in Europe during World War II, battling the Nazi regime, when he came across the village.
He realized that this was the same village where his grandparents lived before emigrating to the United States.
Dewane has told his grandfather’s story in hundreds of venues around the U.S. and Europe.
The show at the Capitol tonight will begin at 7:30 p.m., with the doors opening up an hour prior.
The timing is perfect because a delegation from Domazlice will be coming into their sister city of Two Rivers on Saturday.
This will be their first visit to the Lakeshore area since 2018, as the pandemic put a damper on a planned 2020 visit.
