Manitowoc Public Utilities announces that starting Monday they will be performing annual flushing of water mains serving cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets throughout the city.
This is done for the purpose of removing scale and mineral deposits that builds up over time.
MPU adds that this also helps prolong the life expectancy of water mains and ensures adequate flow/pressure for consumption and fire protection.
Customers are reminded that these particles could enter your water service.
If they remain after flushing is completed, residents can flush them out by opening an outside or cold-water faucet near your water meter.
This maintenance project will last approximately three weeks.
