The two teams with the best records in the second half of the Midwest League season split their week-long series.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers picked up high scoring wins on Friday and Saturday, toppling the South Bend Cubs 11-3 and 8-3, but the bats puttered out on Sunday as the Rattlers lost 6-2.
In that loss, the Rattlers were held to just a sing hit, a two-run home run by Joe Grey Jr. in the 4th inning.
Both teams are 11-4 since the midway point, however, the Cedar Rapids Kernels still sit atop the West Division’s overall standings, one and a half games ahead of the Rattlers and four games above the Cubs.
The tough schedule for the Rattlers continues on Tuesday (July 12th), as they will hit the road to take on the West Michigan White Caps.
The Caps are also 11-4 since the halfway mark of the season but are 7 games out of first place in the East Division.
First pitch at LMCU Ballpark in Comstock Park Michigan is scheduled for 5:35 p.m.
