The Roman Catholic Diocese of Green Bay is now restricting the use of pronouns or clothing that do not match a person’s sex assigned at birth.
A new policy says “The Church teaches that our identities as male and female are part of God’s good design in Creation, that our bodies and sexual identities are gifts from God, and that we should accept and care for our bodies as they were created.”
This clause became effective on the first of July and has been added to the diocese’s education policy manual.
It will affect nearly 9,000 students in 54 schools in the diocese.
It will also apply to 12,000 people who attend religious education classes in the diocese.
Violations could result in corrective action, suspension, and possible termination.
