A teacher in The Two Rivers School District accused of having sexual contact with a student is scheduled to appear in Manitowoc County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.
34-year-old Rebecca Kilps of Manitowoc is facing three counts of Sexual Assault of a child by a School Staff Instructional Person.
A preliminary hearing is held to determine if a person charged with a felony punishable by a term to the state prison system should be tried for the alleged crime a defendant is charged, based on whether there is some substantial evidence that he/she committed the crime.
Two Rivers Police received information earlier this year about a teacher (KILPS) who had engaged in sexual contact with a student and initiated an investigation which led to her arrest on May 24th.
Kilps remains free on $10,000 cash bond and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m.
