Bail is set at $1000 cash for a 20-year-old Manitowoc man who got into an altercation with officers late last week.
Gabriel T. Whatley is charged with Two Counts Each of Battery or Threat to an Officer and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer along with one count of Throwing or Discharging Bodily Fluids at a Public Safety Worker.
A Manitowoc Police Officer was on patrol early on the morning of September 16th when he noticed a vehicle with no registration plates.
When pulled over, Whatley was reported to be uncooperative, refusing to identify himself.
He showed signs of impairment, placed into handcuffs, and put into a squad car to be taken to a local hospital for a blood draw.
Whatley refused and kicked the back seat of the squad car and spit on the windows.
At one point, he also allegedly threatened to beat the officers up.
The lone condition of bail is that Whatley maintain “absolute sobriety”.
Bail has been posted and his initial appearance, scheduled for Monday, has been adjourned until October 24th.
