The Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center near Newton, has announced that they will be opening this summer. A news release from its board of directors and staff, says their grand opening will be on Saturday, July 28th. This culminates a dream of ag education friends, neighbors and visitors that began back in 2009, to bring to life information about sustainable, and responsible farming practices, which, in their words, makes “Wisconsin agriculture what it is today”. Ground was broken for the $13 million facility on October 11th, 2016 on a site on the intersection of I-42 and County Highway C. Since then many generous supporters have contributed financially to this interactive discovery center, which will feature a birthing barn where visitors can watch calves being born, a 29,000 square foot discovery center with educational displays and beneficial farming practices, as well as an opportunity to tour the Grotegut Farm, which is a progressive 3rd generation farm, housed on sustainability and farming’s best practices. Director of Education and Programming, Melissa Benda says that more details will be released in the coming days. If you still wish to make a donation, you can do so at the campaign website, www.buildwaec.org.
