Manitowoc’s A.C.E. Building Service has broken ground on a new project in Sturgeon Bay.
They are currently working on constructing a new machine ship for Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.
This building will help Fincantieri provide service for the company’s Great Lakes commercial and government maritime clients.
The structure will be 300 feet long, will have 19,000 square feet of space, and will contain two overhead cranes, one with a 5-ton capacity and the other with the ability to raise 30 tons.
This project is part of Fincantieri’s plan to update and modernize its shipyard facilities and infrastructure.
A.C.E. has completed projects at the facility for more than 50 years.
Chris Herzog, the President of A.C.E. said of the project, “A.C.E. worked closely with Fincantieri throughout the construction planning process to establish a design that not only takes into account the needs of modern shipbuilding and servicing but also the importance of being a good neighbor.”
