The Two Rivers Police Department is now issuing “Hero Cards” to the public.
Police Chief Brian Kohlmeier says they look just like any other baseball or sports card.
“Officer Andy Lade and our K9 Xanti have their own card,” he revealed. “If you see Andy and Xanti out and about, assuming they are not in the middle of something…I think he would be more than willing to hand out a card to you.”
K-9 Xanti is a male German Shepherd and specializes in narcotics, tracking, and handler protection.
He was sworn into the Department in February of this year and is assigned to the Patrol Division.
“The reason why (he is) a sworn officer is because if (he) were to get hurt, that is just like hurting a sworn police officer,” the Chief explained. “The penalty is the same. It carries the same weight as any other officer.”
And a side note, if you see K-9 Officer Xanti, wish him a happy birthday.
He will turn two on October 26th.
