Wide receiver help is on its way to the Packers.
The team signed Kawaan Baker to the practice squad yesterday after he was released by the Saints.
Baker was suspended for six games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
The receiver was originally drafted by New Orleans in the seventh round of the 2021 draft.
The timing lines up well with the release of the first injury report of the week.
Aaron Rodgers did not participate in practice yesterday as he continues to nurse a thumb injury.
He’s still expected to start against the Commanders.
Receivers Randall Cobb, Christian Watson, and guard Jake Hanson were also kept out of practice due to injury.
A new but familiar starting quarterback for the Commanders will face the Packers in Washington on Sunday.
Commanders head coach Ron Rivera said Taylor Heinicke will get the start in place of Carson Wentz, who underwent hand surgery earlier in the week.
The Packers are 3-and-3 and trail the 5-and-1 Vikings for first place in the NFC North.
