Dive teams in Calumet County were called into action yesterday morning after a suspected drunk driver drove into Lake Winnebago.
The incident occurred just after 4:00 a.m. as crews were called to the scene off of Faro Springs Road.
They arrived to find a vehicle submerged in 8 to 12 feet of water.
The one person in the vehicle was able to get to shore, while dive teams searched for any other occupants.
It was later confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant.
The driver was then arrested after it was determined they were driving under the influence.
A total of 11 agencies were on the scene, including the Calumet County Dive Team, Calumet County Sheriff’s Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and seven fire departments.
