Manitowoc Police have identified the name of the individual who drove off the 10th Street bridge into the Manitowoc River last Friday night as 32-year-old Eric E. Finnila of Green Bay.
Authorities say that Finnila’s car was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Maritime Drive and North 10th Street
When the light turned green, Finnila turned south onto North 10th Street at a normal rate of speed when his vehicle went over a curb and down an embankment, and into the Manitowoc River.
The Green Bay man’s car was eventually located, with him inside deceased, west of the bridge about noon on Saturday.
Finnila was the lone occupant in the car and the bridge was closed until around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon to safely pull the vehicle out of the river
Police say that the bridge and recent change over to two-way traffic in that area did not contribute to this accident and no more information is being released at this time as this incident remains under investigation.
