The Manitowoc United JV hockey team had a successful weekend in Madison, picking up their first two wins of the season.
Manitowoc had a weekend doubleheader against Madison United at Bob Suter’s Capitol Ice Arena.
The two teams were knotted up at 2 after the first period during game one on Saturday, but Manitowoc scored a whopping 5 goals in the second period and took a 7-5 lead into the final frame.
Each team netted a pair of goals in the 3rd, giving Manitowoc their first win.
Goalie Daniel Karlin tallied 49 saves in the win, but he wasn’t done showing off his skills.
In game 2 on Sunday, he recorded a whopping 51 saves, without letting a single one by.
Karlin was aided by five goals from his offense, giving Manitowoc a 5-0 victory over the home squad.
The offense was once again led by Benson Dickrell, who scored 5 goals over the two games, while Reed Neuser and Walker Lindboom each tallied a pair.
The other goals were scored by Peter Cigler, who also had a pair of assists in the shut-out win, Ethan Christensen, Myles Dekok, Josee Busse, and Aragon Jack.
Jack, Dekok, and David Klein each also had assists, improving Manitowoc United’s record to 2-5-1.
They are back on their home ice tomorrow evening, with a 6:45 p.m. contest against Waupaca.
