In celebration of the city of Manitowoc’s rich deep-sea history, the Wisconsin Maritime Museum is featuring the 28 Boats, 28 Days campaign throughout February.
Each day this month, the museum is highlighting a Manitowoc-built submarine that was constructed during World War II on the Wisconsin Maritime Museum Facebook page.
The campaign encourages donors to make $28 donations to the USS Cobia Dry Dock Fund.
The museum’s Development Coordinator Emily Shedal shares the purpose behind the campaign…
“The Cobia is an important part of our community. It serves as a remembrance to the 28 Manitowoc submarines that were built here,” she said while on the WCUB Breakfast Club. “So the Cobia will be going to Dry Dock in about two years, and this campaign is looking to raise funds for when she goes to dry dock.”
There will be a special prize drawing on March 3rd for a winner’s choice of a USS Cobia swag package or one ticket for the below-deck experience aboard the Cobia during the USS Lagarto remembrance ceremonial engine starting on May 6th.
All donations and entries must be made by 11:59 p.m. on February 28th.
