A local landscaping expert said this week that this winter has been “problematic.”
During an appearance, Tuesday on Welcome Home with Brandon Bartow, Tim Krueger from Lakeland Landscape said “It seems so long since we’ve had an old-fashioned Wisconsin winter, and in its absence, our area has had a lot of rain, freezing rain, ice but not much snow cover.”
He noted that the absence of snow can be “detrimental to low-lying grass areas, some of your more fragile perennials, landscape shrubs like that”
Krueger also explained salt damage is an issue as well after usage on those sidewalks and driveways.
“I think I went about 200 pounds of salt just trying to keep my front entrance clean,” he noted. “With he rain ewe had…all that salt is now going to the grass areas, which in turn kills your lawn.”
He added, “That needs your attention in spring whether it be top-dressing and putting on more seed, something which can be done by the homeowner or by a landscaper.”
