The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ bats were silent last night as they fell to the Quad Cities River Bandits 2-0 in Davenport Iowa.
Only two batters could muster two hits, those being the Milwaukee Brewers’ top draft pick Eric Brown Jr. and Robert Moore.
The Rattlers weren’t without baserunners, as they walked 6 times, twice as many times as their opponents.
In fact, the Rattlers starting pitcher Russel Smith had a solid four-inning start, allowing only one hit and striking out five.
His reliever Michele Vassalotti added two more innings of shut-out ball, allowing two hits and striking out six batters.
Luis Amaya took the loss as he allowed a run in the 7th and 8th innings before Justin King came on to close out the game.
The Rattlers will Look to shake it off tonight and get the bats going in game two of their six-game set at Modern Woodmen Park.
Joseph Hernandez will get the start for the visitors, while the Bandits will counter with Tyson Gurrero.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
