Sen. Andre Jacque from De Pere has joined forces with Rep. Jeff Mursau of Oconto Falls to fix a loophole in investigation technology with a new bill.
The bill would expand the definitions of two types of wiretapping devices: “pen register” and “trap and trace device”.
With the growing use of social media for criminal activity, state law enforcement and prosecutors have been struggling with warrants to place these devices on modern technology.
The bill would give clarity to ensure advancing technology is a part of the Wisconsin legal system.
