Tomorrow (Saturday, June 3rd) is what’s known as National Trails Day, and Point Beach State Forest, north of Two Rivers, is participating for the first time in cooperation with Woodland Dunes Nature Center.
Seehafer News spoke with Park Ranger Quinn Henseler who said it’s going to be a “free fun weekend, so no vehicle passes are required for anyone coming into the park who wants to hike or use the park. We have about 17 miles of trails and approximately 6 miles of shoreline.”
The first hike tomorrow takes place on an Ice Age Trail segment starting at 9:00 a.m. with hikers meeting at the trail on Viceroy Road and the County O parking area.
Henseler added another exciting thing available for visitors who have limited mobility is an opportunity to reserve an action track chair on Saturday.
In fact, the ranger explained they’re also fundraising to buy such a chair to have in place year-round on the property.
“On Saturday we also have a fundraiser breakfast with 40 to 50% of the proceeds going to purchase one of the chairs,” Henseler explained. “We have just about $2,000 left to raise and then we can purchase it.”
Advance tickets can be purchased at the Point Beach State Forest main office, or at the concession stand Saturday morning between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. at a slightly higher cost.
