Many were in attendance Thursday for a ribbon cutting to officially welcome 4Given Coffee Shop to Manitowoc.
Richard Robinson Senior, along with his wife and son Richard Junior own 4Given, which is located on South 18th Street inside the building which was once home to both the Martin School of Cosmetology and The Empire Beauty School.
Richard said they wanted to name it something that would promote their deep Christian faith.
“We’re from California and one of our vehicles has a personalized license plate that has 4given on it,” he explained. “My daughter-in-law said that would be a good idea so we incorporated that into the name. It’s 4cs for short which stands for 4Given Coffee Shop.”
The Robinsons came to Manitowoc in 2015 and purchased the entire building in August of 2020.
Nearly three years later Richard’s dream met his passion for coffee, which he says they go about brewing in a unique way.
“We roast our beans in-house,” he revealed. “It’s very important that we make good coffee and I think we’ve accomplished that.”
He also told us that it took them a “couple of years to set up. When we bought the building I said this is where the coffee shop will go (on the lowest floor) and if it doesn’t fly, I’ll have a great cup of coffee for the rest of my life.”
The building is now named The MPM Building, which also is home to various businesses including real estate, insurance, photography, and a hair salon, while work is being done in a co-worker conference center that can hold up to 50 people.
As for 4Given, they serve a variety of hot and cold beverages with plenty of space to sit with your friends and enjoy your day.
Their hours are Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with plans to open weekday evenings and Saturdays.
