The man who led Manitowoc Lincoln to a program best 20 wins this season has been voted Fox River Classic Conference Baseball Coach of the Year.
Bruce Steinbecker received the honor after guiding the Ships to a 20-and-5 record that earned them a share of the conference title and a Regional tournament crown.
Four of Coach Steinbecker’s players were recognized on the all-FRCC squad, including first-teamers infielder Bryce Erdmann and pitcher/shortstop Noah Wech.
Brayden Steinbecker was selected 2nd team as a Utility/DH player and Walker Linboom was named Honorable Mention.
During the team’s post-season awards banquet last night at Knox’s Silver Valley, Coach Steinbecker’s remarks included a mention of two new team records.
The Ships pitching staff compiled an ERA of less than 1.9 and Noah Wech shattered the single season strikeout record of 84 formerly held by Brian Herzog.
Lincoln’s 11 seniors were also praised and thanked for their leadership in what became a most memorable season.
