June is Dairy Month, making it an exceptional time in Wisconsin.
Secretary Randy Romanski of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) out of Madison explains that the old and rich history of the dairy industry in the state makes it an important piece of our past and remains essential for our future.
He states that there are thousands of dairy farms across Wisconsin, which make up nearly a quarter of total dairy farms in the nation, and applauds them for their hard work in generating $45.6 billion annually, making them vital to Wisconsin’s dairy economy.
Romanski also announced that later this month the DATCP is set to travel to the United Kingdom to market and promote various Wisconsin agriculture products.
He hopes that this effort will bring more opportunities for Wisconsin’s producers and processors in the UK.
He urges consumers to choose Wisconsin-made products and consider attending one of the many June Dairy Breakfasts throughout the month at local farms.
