A woman is facing charges following a bomb scare at the Manitowoc Walmart.
Officers were called to the store at 6:15 p.m. after someone reported seeing writing on a bathroom stall that read “There is a bomb in the store. I’m being kidnapped,” along with a phone number.
A tactical sweep was conducted in the store, but no evidence was found of any explosive devices.
Just before the call came in, a 29-year-old woman had been detained by the Walmart Loss Prevention team for attempting to steal items. She was allowed to use the restroom before she was handcuffed.
While en route to the Manitowoc Police Department for prints and mugshots, the suspect began suffering from a medical emergency.
The officer pulled over and stabilized the woman before taking her to Aurora Medical Center.
After dropping her off, the same officer was called to the bomb threat, so he asked the hospital staff to check the woman for a sharpie, which was found on her person.
The officer noted in their report that the suspect had used the same stall in which the threat was located.
The woman is now facing charges of Bomb Scares, and Obstructing an Officer, as she had given a fake name.
