E-bikes are a growing phenomenon everywhere.
John Brunner from The Fitness Store recognizes the widespread misconception that the bikes do all the work for the rider and further explains how they actually work.
“An e-bike is really an electric assist,” he noted while on WOMT’s Welcome Home program with Brandon Bartow. “So, it really allows the rider to climb hills that they may not have otherwise been able to climb or ride distances that they may not have otherwise been able to ride.”
He continues that the lower the assistance level, the higher the battery life is.
He adds that you can ride the bike when the power runs out, but it is just going to be heavier than a typical bike due to the added mechanics though they are maintained in the same way.
There is currently no legislation on restrictions to ride e-bikes, but Brunner believes there will be some changes made in the future.
“I think we’re gonna start seeing more and more. In terms of licensing to ride them, there is nothing at the moment,” Brunner predicted. “If you can ride a bicycle, you can ride an e-bike. Right now, e-bikes for the most part are allowed on any trail system that allows a regular bike. ”
Bike prices at The Fitness Store start at $1,899 and Brunner assures that it is worth the price as it is professionally assembled, and consumers are able to ask questions and have it serviced locally at their store.
