Bail is set at $1,000 recognizance bond for a 29-year-old Manitowoc woman following a bomb threat late last week at Walmart.
Nikkita J. Leach is facing charges of bomb scares and obstructing an officer.
Officers were called to the Calumet Avenue business early last Thursday evening after somebody reported seeing writing on a bathroom stahl which read “There is a bomb in the store, I’m being kidnapped,” along with a phone number.
A tactical sweep found no evidence of explosives.
Meanwhile, the store’s Loss and Prevention Team had detained a suspect, later identified as Leach, for attempting to steal some items moments before receiving the call.
She used the restroom before being detained. Leach then experienced a medical emergency on her way to the police station and was treated at Aurora Medical Center.
The arresting officer was called to the bomb threat and said it was in the same stall Leach used before being taken into custody.
He asked hospital staff to check Leach for a sharpie, which they found on her person and she was booked into The County Jail,
The lone condition of bail is that Leach is to have ‘no contact” with Walmart or its premises. Her initial appearance is scheduled for July 3rd at 1:30.
