The Manitowoc County Historical Society has once again partnered up with a local business to benefit the community and the city’s history.
They are joining with the Mid-Lakes Rustic Iron to offer a babbitt bearing pouring workshop at the Historical Society on July 8th from 9:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Babbitt bearings are a specific type of bearings that support high-speed rotating shafts, such as motors, fans, and generators.
Historically, babbitt bearings are used for the mill’s planer at the museum’s Kruger Sawmill and need replacements.
Guests will have the opportunity to learn how to pour new babbitt bearings through demonstrations, hands-on activities, and notes that can be brought home to do to their own vintage machinery.
Advanced registration is required with a fee of $80 per person.
