The Manitowoc Fire Department has worked hard on applying for grants to further improve the technology of the station.
On WOMTs Be My Guest program, Todd Blaser explained, “Through the generosity of different foundations and different grants it’s a wonderful opportunity that we have here locally to take advantage of some of those and give those people that do the work the right tools to continue to do the best job they can.”
The Fire Department was recently awarded a Local Wisconsin Public Service grant of $2000 which enabled them to get new portable lighting for 5 of their vehicles.
The fire department was partnered with ACE hardware when getting these lights, and they were used on the scene immediately after getting them.
Along with the Local Wisconsin Public Service grant, they applied and were awarded a $35500 grant from Fire House Subs.
This grant was put to use to completely revitalize the lifting and stabilization equipment for the fire department.
