The Two Rivers Historical Society and Rogers Street Fishing Village are conducting a joint shoe drive fundraiser to raise money for building repairs and exhibit updates.
All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise partners.
Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain, and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.
Two Rivers Historical Society Board President Holly Engelland says “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for repairs on both The Washington House and Rogers Street Fishing Village buildings, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The fundraiser begins on June 14th and goes through August 18th.
Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used, and new shoes to the Washington House & Visitor Center, Rogers Street Fishing Village, P.A Wargin Agency Inc, Two Rivers clothing company, 1st Anderson Real Estate, or City Hall in Two Rivers.
