After three years of serving as the Officer in Charge of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Aids to Navigation Team in Two Rivers, Chief Warrant Officer James Coleman now has a new duty station.
With friends, family, and fellow Coast Guardsmen and women, CWO Coleman handed over the reins to the Two Rivers Coast Guard Post to Chief Petty Officer John E. Veit.
CWO Coleman started his command locally in 2020, right as the pandemic began, but he tells Seehafer News he is going to miss a few things about this area, namely “beer, cheese, and cheese curds,” he said with a laugh.
But in all seriousness, CWO Coleman had nothing but praise for the crew he is leaving behind.
He didn’t mince his words, calling the crew of ANT Two Rivers “the best crew in the Coast Guard. Hands down.”
His new duty station will be in Guam, as he will be in charge of the crew of the Cutter Hickory.
CPO Veit is coming into Manitowoc from a similar company out of Savana Georgia, and he tells us he is more than happy to bring his wife Carissa and daughters Mary, Abby, and Kelly to the Cool City.
“I heard a lot about the town, the home of the Ice Cream Sundae,” he said. “I am looking forward to exploring the area, checking out wineries, breweries, and spending time with my family and the crew.”
Additionally, CPO Veit is preparing to add another person to his command, a baby boy who is expected to arrive this summer.
