Recently, new playground equipment has been installed at Riverview, Halvorsen, and Pulaski parks which are considered “neighborhood” parks.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels and the City Council have been in favor of maintaining and improving these parks that are within walking distance from homes.
Recent improvements consist of installing additional playground equipment.
Parks and Recreation Division Manager Curtis Hall tells Seehafer News, “It’s a variety of different equipment ranging from playground structures to slides to swings.”
Hall explains that this has been made possible because of the grants and other funding received from the city to keep these parks accessible to all.
City officials, including the mayor, think it is very important to provide support for not only destination parks, which are larger and more popular, but for these “neighborhood” parks that smaller communities inside of Manitowoc use.
Hall put is simply, “Strong parks make strong communities.”
