Home building and site preparation continues at the Sandy Bay Highlands conservation subdivision in Two Rivers.
The city council recently took action on a request to amend this year’s budget to provide funds for engineering, wetland delineation, and platting for future phases of development there.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells Seehfare News the Sandy Bay subdivision was created about 20 years ago.
“It’s really taken off with development in recent years,” he continued. “We’ve seen a total of 34 lots sold and there are only 6 lots presently available. And, there’s another 17 acres owned by the city where we wish to see new single-family development continue.”
So, Buckley explains up to $80,000 was authorized to be advanced from the Economic Development Loan Fund and then ultimately recouped from lot sales.
“We’re looking at a phase 3 for the subdivision that would be 13 to 17 additional home sites. We saw 7 new homes go up there last year,” the city manager noted.
The city manager added, “There are 4 homes currently under construction at the subdivision off County O on Sandy Bay Road.”
