A Manitowoc man was arrested on OWI charges on the Fourth of July.
According to the police report, an officer was patrolling the area of South 30th and Viebahn Streets at around 4:00 p.m. when he observed a vehicle driving eastbound on Viebahn with a pickup truck following behind.
The officer observed the vehicle almost drive into the ditch and swerve back toward the center line.
The pickup truck began waving to get the officer’s attention and pointed toward the suspect vehicle.
The officer was able to pull the 62-year-old man over and while receiving his driver’s license he noticed the man had slurred speech and smelled strongly of intoxicating beverages.
After receiving the driver’s license, the officer asked the man to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which he failed.
The man was arrested on his fourth OWI offense.
