With several new movies recently hitting the box office, you may have heard of the based-on-a-true-story feature “Sound of Freedom”.
The movie depicts a heroic story of Tim Ballard saving child victims of human trafficking.
That story follows true in real life, with Ballard quitting his job in Homeland Security to start Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), a fight against child sex trafficking and exploitation.
Manitowoc business owner Mary Schuler of Golden Ring Music and Folklore shares a special passion for the cause.
She explains that her business has been supporting OUR since its founding in 2013 after hearing about it on a radio show that had been raising money for the project’s inception.
Schuler explains how OUR is more than just a rescue mission
“One of the things that OUR does, a big thing, they have a huge aftercare program because these children have been trapped for years,” she told Seehafer News. “They get the kids into a safe place and they eventually get the children into a good family.”
OUR supports investigation and enforcement abroad and builds relationships with domestic law enforcement.
According to their website, OUR Rescue has been involved in over 4,000 operations which have impacted over 7,000 lives and resulted in over 6,500 arrests.
Golden Ring Music and Folklore has a collection bin for the organization, though you can donate or learn more at OURRescue.org.
