Seven occupants of a Sheboygan residence were displaced by an overnight fire that originally came in as a chimney fire. The blaze at a structure in the 2500 block of Leon Court caused approximately $100,000 damage to the building. When the first of an eventual 12 units arrived at the scene around 12:30 this morning, they observed heavy fire coming from the rear of the home and the occupants safely evacuated. Crews pulled hose lines and made an aggressive attack, bringing the fire under control quickly. Sheboygan Fire Department personnel were able to leave the scene by 3:20 a.m. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation and authorities issued a reminder to the public to have properly working smoke detectors in their home.
