Earlier last month site changes and expansion were approved by the Two Rivers Plan Commission for L.B. Clarke Middle School.
At the Two Rivers City Council meeting last Monday (August 7th) the council finalized the agreement to sell 7 acres of land to the school district for that expansion.
Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley tells Seehafer News, “The city owns property to the North and West of the school. For $1, the city will be conveying about 7 acres to the district. The city will be holding onto 2 and a half acres at the Northwest corner of the property for future Park and Rec purposes.”
He also noted another part of the agreement that would aid both the Parks and Rec Department and the school.
“The school district has made a commitment to develop, on district property, a new varsity baseball facility,” he explained. “That will allow transitioning high school use of Walsh Field out to a school facility and allow the city other Park and Recreation uses of Walsh Field.”
Walsh Field will most likely be kept as a ball diamond, being apart from the school would just allow more flexibility with the space.
