Former Lincoln High School principal Lee Thennes has stepped aside to serve in the District Office, which means the school needed someone to fill his shoes.
Nearing the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the high school announced that the role will be filled by former LHS band director Micah Hoffman.
He served as the director from 2004-2017, when he moved to Green Bay West High School to pursue an associate principal position.
With 16 years of teaching and 6 years of administrative experience, Hoffman explains that he chose to transition to a leadership position following Act 10, a bill that ultimately led to the shortage of teachers in the state.
He tells Seehafer News, “That’s why I decided to move in this direction because maybe I can be a greater agent of change and influence in this position.”
While he worked in Green Bay, Hoffman has lived in the community since his time as the band director.
He also served as a band director at Live Oak High School in Louisiana prior to working at Lincoln.
Hoffman says this is the best place for him to be.
“When this position opened up, I had to apply, because this is a great place to work, a great place to be,” he explained. “I live here in the community, I want to help the community. I think Lincoln is but also can be a beacon for the community and the city.”
After this past school year, many teachers either retired or left the school, leaving many roles in need of filling.
“We have a lot of new staff. We have a lot of new teachers. So, one of our big goals for us as a group is if we’re going to help lead students in amazing things, we’ve got to know who we’re working with and how we operate,” the new principal said. “We’re going to spend a lot of time getting to know who we are as a group of individuals and then who we are as a school, so that we can help you all figure out who you are and what you want to be.”
Both Micah Hoffman and the rest of the LHS admin team are excited to welcome new leadership for this upcoming school year, and hopefully many more to come.
