The Manitowoc County Soil and Water Conservation Department, in collaboration with the Home and Community Education group, is offering free well water screening for nitrates at the upcoming Manitowoc County Fair.
Nitrates are naturally occurring compounds that can be found in groundwater. High levels of nitrates in drinking water can pose health risks.
To participate in the free screening, residents are encouraged to bring a half cup of well water in a clean container to the Merchant Building during fair hours.
The screenings will take place from August 23rd through the 27th.
