It can take a lot of time, effort, and patience to show cows at the Manitowoc County Fair. But two leaders at the fair have seen what it can become.
Dairy Committee Advisor Sarah Neuser says it’s amazing to see the next generation of kids showing cows.
She says it’s also very rewarding, “Anytime that they receive that purple ribbon.”
She noted, “they are in shock of it all, or any ribbon for that fact, there like I didn’t think I was going to that well and their like *gasp*, I did this good how is that possible?”
Manitowoc County Dairy Superintendent Lee Glaeser says while the expo group takes care of the cattle barn during the offseason, he must make sure things work like the fans and electrical panels.
He also says the exhibitors themselves do a lot of work.
“They come, the big animals here, and the kids are raking the gravel and keeping the gravel moist so that it’s not dusty,” he explained. “They also keep the animals nice and clean and cool. They are also fed all day long. It’s really a great testament to what we have in Manitowoc County.”
Glaeser says his family will also be showing cattle during the fair, but he says it’s great to see new people coming out and seeing all the different animals.
