The ManitoWALK Vs ALS Walk and Auctions has donated $300,000 to support the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter.
Last Saturday (August 26th) was the 10th year for the walk and event Organizer Tina Kocourek says the walk still honors her mother Bernette Seiler.
The walk first started a decade ago because Bernette wanted to continue to see her friends.
“Because she also wanted to see everybody like family and friends, and we decided to put this one on,” Kocourek explained to Seehafer News. “All the money goes to the ALSA Wisconsin Chapter for research and to help families in Wisconsin with whatever they need.”
Supporters came and walked three miles starting from the Time Out Sports Bar and Grill on North Rapids Road while 10% of proceeds from Time Out also went to the ALS Wisconsin Chapter.
Kocourek says the goal was to raise $40,000 this year, and that they already had about a quarter of the money when the walk started.
