Gate numbers were through the roof at the just completed Manitowoc County Fair.
Expo Facility Manager Jennell Shelton tells Seehafer News, “We are over 54,000 that we ended up bringing in for attendance. This is a record-breaking year for us.”
Breaking down that 54,000 plus attendance figure, Saturday’s turnout was over 16,500, a number which Shelton explains hasn’t been seen since Joan Jett performed at the fairgrounds.
Then Sunday, more than 7,000 people went through the fair gates.
While the weather really cooperated, she said our county fair is a relative bargain compared to others in the region.
“That $10 entrance fee is a bargain,” she said. “We had calls asking about is what I see and read on the website correct that your 10 dollars includes everything? I think they were amazed and it’s great to tell that we’ve held that price since 2009 and we’re holding strong.”
Shelton indicated many fairgoers came to see the daily standing-room-only Sea Lion shows while others from outside the area came in for the unlimited carnival rides.
She mentioned the many fair sponsors, including seehafernews.com, for helping to keep those admission prices low.
The Fair Board plans to meet next week to start planning for the 2024 county fair scheduled for August 21st-25th.
