Manitowoc Lincoln and Green Bay Notre Dame had a real nailbiter in Girls High School Tennis last night before the Tritons emerged with a 4-3 victory at Lincoln Park.
The Ships, now 8 & 3 overall, and 0 & 1 in the FRCC, had a straight sets victory at #1 Singles from Olivia Minikel who remains undefeated.
The #1 Doubles tandem of Taylor Peterson and Zylia Kleinfeldt pulled out a tough win over their Notre Dame opponents: 7-6, 5-7, and 10-5 in the tiebreaker.
Allison Gates also won her match at #4 Singles.
Coach Stephanie Henschel’s team is scheduled to host Green Bay Southwest Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Two Rivers/Roncalli Girls Swimming team competed last night in the Redwing Relays at Sheboygan South.
The co op earned a 2nd place finish from their 300-yard Backstroke Relay consisting of Cadence Samz, Josey Allington, Rebecca Weigel, and Sophia Allington.
Team scores from the event were not available as of this morning.
And in girls volleyball, it was a back-and-forth contest last night, but Mishicot walked away with a 3-2 win over Kiel.
The Raiders claimed the first set 5-19, but the Indians muscled out a win in set 2, 25-21.
Kiel would regain the lead with a 25-18 third set, and Mishicot would force a decisive 5th set with a 25-20 win in the fourth.
In that final set, Mishicot would break the back-and-forth trend with a 16-14 win, improving to 5-3.
The Raiders fall to 2-2 and are scheduled to return to action next Tuesday for a match against Chilton.
The Indians are back in action tomorrow night (August 31st) as they host Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah.
