The Lion’s Club is having their Scott Bohman Memorial Trek the Creek 5k Run and Family Walk next week on Saturday, September 9th at 9 a.m.
While on the WCUB Breakfast Club Elizibeth Phillips-Smith, the main organizer of the event spoke about Scott and what he stood for when it came to the sport of running.
“He was an avid passionate runner, yes, and you know devoted to the community too,” she explained. “He wanted to do something for the community, and he got this race together, so we owe him a lot, though you know we wanted to resurrect it in his memory too.”
Elizabeth has worked closely with his family and the community to put together the event.
The Lion’s Club donates proceeds from sponsors and the 5K Run and Family Walk to numerous groups within the community.
“Proceeds go to five different organizations,” she noted. “It’s the Pink Heels of Manitowoc County, the Francis Creek First Responders, the Francis Creek Fire Department, the Francis Creek Lion’s Club, and then the school district of Mishicot Snack Pack Program. Last year I think we did about $7,000, we raised.”
Lots of excitement surrounds the event this year, with food, raffle prizes, medals, and gorgeous trails, it is sure to be a success.
