The Manitowoc Police Department has announced enforcement results from the recently concluded Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
Conducted as part of a nationwide enforcement and education effort, local police officers made 6 OWI arrests between August 18th and Labor Day.
Lieutenant Adam Sohlden explained while the focus of the initiative was to deter impaired driving, officers also issued citations and made arrests for 19 operating after revocation or suspension violations, 4 speeding violations, 2 drug arrests, 2 warrant pickups and 1 felony arrest.
The MTPD performed 327 traffic stops during that period and issued 241 written warnings and 59 total citations for various infractions.
Lt. Sohlden said, “Our first priority is to keep people safe. While the campaign is over, we hope the message continues every day: drunk driving is dangerous and can cause irreversible harm. Please always drive sober.”
