Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu says Gov. Tony Evers needs to stop playing political games and surveying elected officials with public voting records.
His statement comes after the governor announced he wants every member of the Wisconsin State Legislature to answer a workforce survey to take public positions and answer questions on issues about their position on childcare and expanding paid family leave among other critical initiatives.
LeMahieu says 80% of Wisconsinites support work search requirements for welfare recipients, even though Evers has vetoed the proposal in different sessions.
He says Senate Republicans will continue to work on workforce development measures that get people into good family-supporting jobs and economic policy that gets more money back to Wisconsin residents.
The Senate Majority Leader also asks if Evers believes that increasing taxes on Wisconsinites who qualify for food stamps will help grow Wisconsin’s economy and attract and retain a strong workforce.
