Stevens Point and Kaukauna captured the Boys and Girls Team titles Saturday at the 46th annual Len Nikolai Cross Country Invitational at Meadow Links Golf Course.
Manitowoc Lincoln Coach Mike Bubolz said, “Nikolai played the national anthem on his accordion and that set the tone for a great day of running.”
The Ships boys team placed 10th in the 20-school meet and were led by freshman Jonas Stachovak who ran a season-best time of 18:15 over the 5K course.
The Lincoln girls wound up in 6th place in their competition and had 2 athletes among the top 15, both freshmen.
Natalie Portmann was 14th to the finish line in 20:27, just ahead of classmate Kendall Schmitz, who was 15th in 20:33.
Menomonee Falls had the 2nd place team finish in the boys’ invite with Brookfield East taking runner-up honors in the girls’ run.
Bubolz told Seehafer News he was very appreciative to Meadow Links for allowing Lincoln to host the meet at the golf course and all the volunteers who helped make the invitational go smoothly.
