Manitowoc’s downtown waterfront hotel is back to its original name following a major renovation project.
The new General Manager at the Inn on Maritime Bay is Pat Reilly, who explains the work began last October and was completed in June.
“It came about because the hotel I think was in dire need of a major renovation for many, many years,” she explained. “So I think it was one of those sink or swim (situations) and I’m new to the company but had to put the money in or the hotel wouldn’t be there.”
Reilly says it was a complete overhaul of all guest rooms from top to bottom.
“Flooring, walls, carpet, all new furniture,” she noted. “We’re working fully on replacing the windows because the hotel was built in 1985. So, to put in all new windows they’ll have to be measured and customized. They’re working on that in the beautiful lakeview rooms.”
A bit of historical information, the late owner of Seehafer Broadcasting Don Seehafer was an investor in the hotel back in 1985 when it was first constructed.
The GM pointed out the city of Manitowoc owns the land on which the hotel is located.
“I think the city has done an excellent job in putting money back into the downtown area,” Reily told Seehafer News. “I’m excited to see all the young entrepreneurs that have started businesses downtown. So, we’re there to support all of them and it’s amazing the people that stay at the hotel who just love the downtown area, the shops, the bars, the restaurants.”
Reilly said she believes in philanthropy, to give back where you get, and that’s why the Inn On Maritime Bay is doing Dose of Hope for Lighthouse Recovery in November before hosting the Magic Trolley Ride to the North Pole to benefit CASA on the first Friday in December.
