Roncalli High School will be represented next weekend at the WIAA State Individual Tennis Tournament in Madison.
The Lamers’ sisters qualified for the Division 2 Doubles portion of the state meet held October 12th through 14th at Nielsen Indoor Stadium on the UW-Madison campus.
Madison and Megan Lamers advance following a win in their 3rd place match over the St. Mary Catholic duo of Vogel and Calmes 7-6, 6-7 and 10-6 in the tiebreaker.
Earlier, the Jets #1 doubles team defeated Willis and Diedrich of St. Mary’s Springs 6-0, 6-2 and lost to Kohler’s Torke and Villwock 2-6, 1-6 in the Sectional semifinals at the Sports Core in Kohler.
Roncalli’s Lily Giesen (GEESE’-en) fell short in her attempt to make it to state when she dropped a Singles match in straight sets to Kohler’s Maria Burrows.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln has 4 players competing today for berths in next week’s State Tennis Meet.
Ships athletes involved in Sectional Tournament play include Olivia Minikel at #1 Singles, Jordin Popp at ‘2 Singles, and the #1 Doubles tandem of Taylor Peterson and Zylia Kleinfeldt.
Their matches will take place at Fox Cities Racquet Club in Appleton.
