This week was National 4-H Week in the United States.
In Manitowoc County 4-H UW Extension Educator Katrina Pionek says children in kindergarten through high school focus on hands-on activities to help develop the personal well-being of youth.
She says students are taking part in challenges this week including Memory Day on Monday and Swag Day on Wednesday.
Yesterday was Community Service Day and today (October 6th) is Thinking About Career Day.
“We learn about what are their future plans,” she explains. “Whether it’s something with 4-H or something else they have a passion about.”
Pionek says the local 4-H group also celebrated their successes at this year’s Manitowoc County Fair plus had some summer camps for the kids at Camp Tapawingo.
She says anyone who wants their child to develop some positive youth development can join 4-H. There are fifteen different clubs in Manitowoc alone.
