Opening round matches took place last night in the WIAA Girls Volleyball Tournament.
In Division-2 Regional play, Winneconne needed 4 sets to defeat Kiel, 2nd seeded Fox Valley Lutheran swept Two Rivers, and Denmark fell to Notre Dame in 3.
In Division-3, 3rd seeded Manitowoc Lutheran swept Kohler, Cedar Grove-Belgium stopped Roncalli in 3-sets, and Reedsville surprised higher seed Southern Door in a 5-set marathon.
Meanwhile, Valders was a 3-0 winner over Kewaunee, Brillion edged Mishicot 3-sets to 2, and 2nd-seeded Oostburg topped New Holstein 3-0.
In the Division-4 Regional, 5-seed Hilbert downed Wild Rose in 3.
The first round of the WIAA Boys Soccer tournament kicked off last night as well.
In the Division 1 Regional, #2 seeded Homestead of Mequon breezed past Manitowoc Lincoln 10-9, Neenah shut out Sheboygan South 9-0, and Brookfield Central, a 12 seed, edged #5 Sheboygan North 4-3.
In a Division 4 Regional match, Algoma blanked New Holstein 6-0.
