Four workforce bills authored by 1st District State Senator Andre Jacque have cleared the Wisconsin Senate.
Two of the bills are supposed to help develop and grow the talent pool of skilled workers desperately needed by state employers.
One of the bills establishes reciprocal licensing in Wisconsin to attract skilled workers who already have credentials in another state which should allow faster licensing if they move to Wisconsin.
The second will allow some qualified trade students to get up to $1,500 to help pay for materials with apprenticeship programs like tools, clothing, equipment, and supplies.
The next set of bills helps local election workers.
One bill helps make it a class 1 felony to cause bodily harm to an election official and provides whistleblower protections to an election official who believes there might have been election irregularities.
The last bill covers the cost of special elections so local municipalities don’t have to foot the bill.
All the bills must pass the Wisconsin State Assembly and then could be signed by the governor.
