6th District Congressman Glenn Grothman, who represents Manitowoc County at the national level, says he’s proud that Louisiana Representative Mike Johnson was picked as the next Speaker of the House.
Grothman says, “As a former constitutional lawyer and man of deep Christian faith, Speaker Johnson is committed to promoting conservative policies and returning our nation to its founding principles.”
He went on to state, “Speaker Johnson and I have had a good relationship during his tenure as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Republican Conference. I look forward to working together to lower out-of-control spending, protect Americans’ individual liberties, and secure the border.”
It took the US Congress and Republicans about 22 days to find a new speaker after former Speaker Kevin McCarthy was removed from the job earlier this month after some more hard-lined Republicans weren’t happy he worked with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown.
